Into the Record Books. 1958.

When the 1958 U.S. Figure Skating Championships were held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in late March of that year, weather history shows that the temperatures were in the 30°F to 35°F range. Although that’s likely nowhere near a record temperature of any kind for Minneapolis, the 1958 Championships still entered the record books as the first national championship to be commemorated with a collectible lapel pin. And a handsome and well-made figure skating pin it is.

1974 US Figure Skating Pin: Lighting the Way.

The design of the pin produced for the 1974 U.S. Figure Skating Championships incorporates an iconic sight in Rhode Island: a lighthouse. Although it isn't clear if the silhouette used on the pin depicts a specific lighthouse, it is clear that the pin was made for an event of the 1970s. On a silver-color base metal, the 1-1/8" diameter (2.8575 cm) pin features deep red and blue colors, hinting at patriotism, a design direction popular in the mid-1970s.
